As part of our "getting to know you" activities, we completed a Math About Me page. Students explored the numbers in their lives.
in Social Studies, we have started to study the state symbols of Massachusetts. Students are completing a flip book to show what they have learned.
We have a sign in the classroom that reads "Mistakes are proof that you are trying." Students made their license that show that they are allowed to make mistakes as they tackle new tasks. I keep these hanging up all year.
Just so you know, this is what your child is supposed to have copied down in their planner this week.
I just want to clarify homework. Students have heard this multiple times a day,but they do not all seem to be relaying the information. This was included on my welcome letter. It can also be found on the Homework section of my website.
The homework each night is to read for 20 minutes and fill out one section of the reading log. If it's a chapter book, just retell the beginning, middle, and end of what you read that evening. RETURN THE READING LOG EACH DAY. Students should also complete the nightly math page Planners should be initialed by a parent and returned to school each day. If if you have any questions, don't hesitate to email me! We had a fantastic first week of school! Room 114 has a lot of hard workers and smiling faces. I look forward to seeing what this school year holds.
Please remember to return all paperwork. The pink page that I sent home is a permission slip for our website. If you would like your child to be a part of our website, please return that form indicating what you approve. If you do not want your child to be a part of the website, please circle no and return it. Thank you! |
