On Monday, we learned what an idiom is. The class loved them so much that I decided to explore this type of figurative language some more. Here are some food idioms that students wrote and illustrated on paper plates!

As part of our read a thon, Mr. Cateon agreed to dye his hair any color. The class that raised the most money got to choose the color. Mrs. Bower's class chose red, white, and blue for the New England Patriots. We had a special guest, Andre Tippett (former player) do the honors. Julia and Avery also got Feinstein Awards! 👍🏻 The digital copy and resources for Scholastic News magazine can be found online! We explore these weekly in the classroom using our Chromebooks. You can explore them at home too. Our class password is: willett114. As part of our study of growth mindset, I have asked students to interview someone in their lives about a failure in their life. I think it's important for children to see that mistakes and failure can lead to some amazing outcomes. We did a very quick sample with Mrs. Swintak to model this activity. The oral interview is better than what is written on this page, but here is our sample. These are due by Thursday. Thank you! Tomorrow is Community Meeting. Please wear red/white/blue, Patriots clothing, or your Feinstein shirts. Since we filled our compliment Mr. Potato Head AGAIN... here it is. Today we made thank you cards for a group of women in basic training. Mrs. Bonomo, a teacher at our school, assigned us a troop and students each made a picture for a certain recruit. They came out great!!! 👍🏻 |
